I don't know if anyone else has thought of it, but the concept cartoons in sciecne are multimodal, I'm using these in school on Monday so I'll let you know how the children respond to them.

What are 'concept cartoons' ? Am I being really thick ?

Concept cartoons are something that we've been looking at in science - you must have a different lecturer! They are cartoons with ideas about forces or space and they have speech bubbles with ideas typical of children. they also have blank speech bubbles so that children can add their own ideas.
